Selly Green Truly is a Family Business

Laurence & Sue George are our two partners. Laurence started his working life as a builder and plumber in his Granddad's business and then moved in to garden hard landscaping and ornaments. He suffered from dry cracked skin from working with concrete all day. Then a friend gave him tub of natural hand cleaner to try. The condition of his skin was greatly improved. As this hand cleaner wasn't widely available he decided to take it on.

About 25 years ago Cellande Midlands started trading from Laurence & Sue's living room. After a while it took over the whole room, double garage and green house. At that point it moved to a new home in Gristhorpe Road. They called it Cellande House to remind them of their 'homely' roots.

Today we are still at Cellande House which was built originally as a dairy with a stable for the horses and then converted into a builder's yard. Since then we have made a lot of changes to improve our working environment especially in the last fifteen years with our roof garden, solar panels, rain water storage and nature areas.

In 2015 we changed our company name from Cellande to Selly Green to avoid confussion with a European cleaning company with the same name.
